Laura grew up in Naperville, IL and attended the University of Illinois for undergraduate work and later Loyola University of Chicago Law School. She was admitted to the Illinois State bar in 1992 and began to work as a prosecutor in central Illinois. After working in central Illinois for four years, Laura moved to Lake County to take a position with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office. Over the next ten years she prosecuted all types of cases including child sex cases, murders and all other felonies, becoming the lead prosecutor in a felony court room. Laura was admitted to practice in the Capital Litigation Trial Bar as lead prosecutor in 2006. In 2007 Laura left the State’s Attorney’s Office to open her own law firm and later that year was asked to join the firm of Noonan, Perillo, Polenzani & Marks. In 2013, Laura became partner in the firm Fox, Lunardi, Zeit & Polenzani. As a partner, Laura continues to focus in the areas of family, criminal defense, juvenile and appellate law.
Laura is a member of the State of Illinois Capital Litigation Trial Bar and is certified as a Lead Counsel. She is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Lake County Bar Association. She is a continuing member of the Association of Women Attorneys.
